  3. I have asked my jewler the same question and she said yes. However they "dip" it and it could wear off in time according to her...so it is something you would have to keep up on.

Yes it can.  I worked for a jewelry store for about a year.  This may not be your best option though.  If you want the color of white, it would be better to rhodium plate the ring.  In essence making it a white gold ring.  You will have to have it "re-dipped" about twice a year at no more than $30 a time.  Rhodium is a member of the platinum family, but it is used to make the white gold rings sparkle again.  It is harder than the platinum, and since the ring is already yellow gold inside, it will cover it much better.  Platinum is softer, more expensive (like hundreds of dollars more) and you will be able to tell that the ring was yellow gold before much sooner (because of scratches are ware) than if you had it rhodium plated.
