We are taking my 15 year niece to France and wanted to know if she can go into a bar or a club? In case we wanted to stop somewhere and have a drink (the adults not the child).

  1. that depends of what she drinks, not the age. you'll have no problem if she drinks some juices.

  2. When I went to France..almost everyone had a drink in a bar at some point. We never got carded and it is much more relaxed there..

by the way..when I said "everyone" I meant a group of high school students I was with.

  3. Yes they can as long as they are accompanied by an adult acting in loco parentis.

  4. no

  5. Alcoholic drinks are classified in categories, in regard to ages -

For instance cider which is weak can be served to a 15teen

but this is very complicate and nobody knows about it - anyway these rules must be in each bar clearly fixed on the wall -

The best to do is to restrain ordering alkoholic drinks if you're not 18 - anyway police controls of identity are very scarce, because a bar is a private area and police cannot intervene without bosse's request.

  6. Yeah, they will. Plus, the drinking age there is like 14. We were there this summer and I had a couple drinks... Not at once lol! But yeah they should let her in! The French are pretty relaxed about that kinda stuff unless you make a fool of yourself.

  7. Of course, she can go anywhere with you except for night clubs (discos).

French teenagers don't hang out in malls because they can go to bars/cafés. That's where we would go when I was in high school and we had a free period. Under 16 you're supposed to be with an adult to enter places serving alcoholic drinks but you never get carded, unless you look really young. I have NEVER seen it happen though (we didn't go there for alcohol anyway).

Here is what the law says:

    - anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to enter a place selling alcoholic drinks.

    - you need to be 16 to purchase wine or beer and 18 to purchase distilled alcohols. A bar manager/bartender cannot serve alcoholic drinks even for free to such minors.

    - there is no drinking age in France, so an adult can let their kid have a sip of their drink. However it is illegal to get a minor drunk.

  8. You can go in a café, they will serve non alcoholic drinks for her.

  9. go and find out ... if they through you out I would guess that means no

  10. if she doesnt get carded

when i was in france i just walked into bars and i was only 16

    so i suppose

    but legally no.
