Can a 15 year old horse still learn to rope and barrel race?

he has a lot of spunk and can still run fast, but I am worried he is not capable of learning too rope and run barrels.

Of course he can as long as he is physically and mentally sound enough.  At 15 he should be in the prime of his life if he hasn't been abused or wrecked.  The only question is at what level he'll be able to compete - and that will depend on all the same factors that would determine his ability at a much younger age(i.e. conformation, attitude, athletic ability, soundness, body type, etc.)  Best of luck to you!

Sure can! As long as your horse is sound and has enough stamina you can teach him anything. That saying, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." is a major lie. You can teach any animal anything if u put yourself to it!

ya i had a hrs that was around 16 and i tot her how to run barrels and if its a 'cow horse' (paints, QH, ect.) then he has a natural instinct to chase cows
