Can a 16 year old legally move out in the state of wisconsin?

My boyfriend will be 16 in June...he really hates living with his parents especially his mom she's a B**** but he wants to know if he can legally move out of the house at 16 or 17? he cant wait till he's 18...it's definatly to much stress on him. Please Hellllp!!!

  1. If she's abusive or there's a legitimate reason he could get emancipated but you didn't really say anything like that. I imagine he's a whiny brat who doesn't want to follow his moms rules and that's not a reason to get emancipated, taht's every teenager. How is he going to support himeslf and go to school? Where's he going to live? In order to get emancipated there has to be a reason and the teen has to prove they have been working for a year, have savings and are able to support themselves.


  2. If he leaves without permission, he will probably be reported as a runaway and picked up by the police. Depending on circumstances, he may have a new place to live called Juvenile Hall.
