  1. Yes, you can travel alone, but to rent a hotel room you have to be 18.

  2. to travel alone yes to rent a hotel no you need to be 18

  3. In the US, you need to be 18 to rent a hotel room. However, many campgrounds won't card you. Europe offers many tours for people your age (try www.eftours.com) that are inexpensive but chaperoned, with plenty of freedom. I'm not sure what the ages for staying alone in Europe are.

  4. In the U.S you can travel as an unaccompanied minor.  Call the various airlines to check their policies on this.

For hotel rooms, you need to be 18.  Even if your parents were to book the room, it wouldn't count.  You would need to be 18 to stay there without an adult regardless of who pays for the room.
