  1. The laws differ from county to county, let alone from state to state, but I can tell you in general terms what you can expect (and i hoope you are not in michigan..the y got a freaking book you have to fill out first) In CA, you could be granted emrgency food stamps, as well as WIC (women with infants and children), AFDC (aid for dependant children), medical aid for you and your children, and,  in most cases,  child care expense money so that you can continue to go to school and graduate, and also on into college as well.  You will need to declare al lour assets, such as property (including gravesites no less!), life insurance, health insurance, how much money you have inthe bank, how much money you make (if you work--also can be offset by child care expenses whiel you work), do you own a vehicle or make payments on one, etc.  In CA, one third of any money you make will be put aside, and only two  thirsds of your money will count 'against' you in calculatin your food stamps and cash aid. Your best bet is to make an appointment and go talk to the scial services peopel in your area.  (BTW, in CA they use a debit card, and no longer use paper food stamps.  it's a lot more doignified).

    Hope that helps you

  2. you should stop having kids and stop depending on welfare.

  3. in Canada, yes.

  4. yes. of course that's what it's there for but that 17 year old should stop having kids and depending on welfare to pay for her decisions

  5. If she is not living at home and has no income then she can apply for state aid.

There is a time limit on how long she can get assistance though.

  6. it depends on the st. but i know in MD you have to be 22 for food stamps and i also think welfare

  7. What state are you in?

You should really apply for WIC as well. It's a great program.

  8. I guess it depends where you are.

    What is the household income?

it doesn't go just by you so if you live with your parents they are going to factor that in too so I am not sure but you can get WIC (womens Infants Children)

you should be able to sign up for it somewhere just call job and family services and ask them. It can't hurt to call and ask

  9. Yes- but that 17 year old is going to have a very hard, long road to travel. She is also going to be facing a time limit, which is generally only 2 years- before she has to go out and get a paying job, or lose her benefits entirely. Welfare is NOT A FREE RIDE any more- and this girl badly needs to learn that THE WORLD DOESN'T OWE HER, OR ANYONE ELSE, A LIVING. I'm willing to bet that this girl is someone who considers Jaime Lynn Spears to be her role model- and wants to be just like her. Well, the only reason Spears has been able to get by with what she has is because her family has more money than they do brains- and if she were anyone other than a celebrity, she'd be in the same situation that this girl is. Jamie Lynn is NO ROLE MODEL- if that were true, she'd have waited until she was MARRIED to get pregnant- and possibly attended college first.

As far as applying for public assistance and food stamps, not to mention WIC benefits goes, there are time limits on all of these programs. The best thing for this girl to do is go to her local social services office and talk to one of the case managers there, and find out what supports and services she qualifies for. Once she knows where she stands, she can make plans- and hopefully, part of her plan will include getting on the pill once this new baby is born, to keep this from happening again. If this were me, I'd put both children up for adoption, and concentrate on getting back in school and into college- and on getting a good job that pays benefits.

This is a sad situation- and one which was entirely preventable. These kids are going to be lucky to avoid ending up on welfare themselves when they get older. This is also why we desperately need more and better methods of contraception, and to EDUCATE teenagers on how to use them. Contraception prevents situations like this one in the first place- and when used correctly, it ALSO ELIMINATES the need for abortion. How many unwanted teen pregnancies could we prevent for the price of one nuclear missle, I wonder?? Think about that. It's all a question of priorities- and it appears as though many of ours are in the wrong place.

    Enough said.

  10. if ur on ur own yes, if ur living with ur parents no not on ur own until ur 22, so u would have to have one of them apply for you and they would take into account there income and depending on how much they make they would let u know what u can and can not recive...

but u can always say  that u don't live wit ur parents that u live with an aunt or uncle or somethin and then you would get most likely get everything depending on ur income...

but thats for Pa and De its different in each state
