I do not have a license yet, but I plan on getting on soon after obtaining said moped. I am a legal resident of the state of Illinois, and I intend on buying the moped with cash (my own). I also plan on paying for insurance and all other expenses myself. Can I legally own it or do I have to have it under my aprent name. I know the driving age for one is about 16, but I am not sure how old I have to be for owning one. Does anyone know the laws for Illinois reguarding moped? I would love a link to a site that tells me all the laws reguarding them for my state!

  1. Put it under your parent's name until you are 18. You can call your local DMV.
