can he start by applying for a credit card under his name and start building his credit history from there?

  1. Nope, I had a debit card when I turned 16 and got a job, I thought that was building my credit, turns out having a debit card has no effect ! Once your 18 you can start to build credit but make sure not to go overboard.

    EDIT:

    Earning money and building credit are two very different things. You can get a job at 16 but not a credit card!
