The parents are the sponsors, how ever she would like to move out. Her status has been adjusted and she already has a green card.

  1. The age required to sign a legal contract is 18, so a 19-year old is fine, at least from the standpoint of the law. The landlord may want some serious credit references however.

  2. ur friend is able to do anything as a gc holder but vote and travel outside of the country for long periods of time.  yes the parents were the sponsors to get her gc, but is now up to ur friend to get a job, support herself n get an apartment, unless she is underaged.  good luck!

  3. Yes, as long that she don't ask her parents to pay for her rent.Being of age and legal to find job, she should start thinking of paying her own way.

  4. She is an adult as 19 year old. As long as she works to pay the rent, she can get her own apartment.

Legally responsible for finance means when she becomes "public charge" by getting any types of government aid, then the government may and could ask the sponsor to reimburse the amount. It has nothing to do with her being independent.
