  1. The only way a 1sgt can tell a 1LT what to do is if that 1LT lacks a spine.

  2. he cant take your ranks away, he can tell you what to do(as long as it isn't ridiculous).

  3. It sounds like your not even commisioned so he can call you whatever he wants.  But if hes in jrotc as well than you should tell him to shut up.  Isn't jrotc highschool? So none of you are even official yet so it doesn't matter.

  4. He is being insubordinate. That will take his rank away.

He can not tell you what to do, and he can not take away your rank.

In the service he would be up on charges.

  5. no....not by the "rules" anyway.

but...keep in mind that a 1st Sgt has usually been in the military MUCH longer than the 1st Lt so it's prob not a bad idea to listen to the 1st Sgt when he does say something...that lieutenant could prob learn alot!

    EDIT:...whoops, I should've read the question!!

  6. In the real military, 1st Sgts usually have much more experience than 1st Lts. The Sgt can't ORDER the Lt to do anything, but the LT, if he's got half a brain, will listen to the sgt's advice.

Edit - lol Mike! I've had that experience myself, from the other side. Thanks for your service, bro, we'll always need groundpounders.

    Cheers

  7. Prolly an advice yeah but not a command! No way a first sgt can command a 1st LT.  Captains can command 1st LT yeah. But we all know that first sgt is a well respected rank and 1st sgt and 1st LT might communicate with each other about what to do to get suggestions but not as far as the sgt telling the 1LT what to do

  8. Listen to your 1st Sgt.  you may be a 1st Lt (I seriously doubt it based upon your spelling and grammar), but he's got years of experience that you don't have and will impart his wisdom to your advantage.

  9. he cant do that i was in jrotc all through high school and our sgt major  told us no one can take away our position based on nothing if its our performance its ok

  10. If you're in JROTC, none of you knows a thing.  Even if he can take your rank away, what does that matter?  His ego's just a bit too large for the unit.

  11. No.

Generally a 1SG will offer advice and suggestions to a 1LT - and a smart 1LT will listen and take notes.

  12. Sure he can. He may not be a 1st Sgt anymore but he can sure do it.

  13. Look up the rankings and answer for yourself.

  14. Ordinarily in the real military a Sergeant has experience over a Lieutenant. Not in all cases, but most.

A cadet Sergeant, however, probably wouldn't. If he is really a problem, see an instructor about him. Don't forget you are in a youth group - your organization can't afford to have kids abusing authority or generally acting like nitwits.

Sometimes we get cadet Sergeants and Officers who even try to push their rank on us - the result can be very unpleasant for them.
