  1. Let us say you need it....let us even say you think you might...if you do ever, then it is worth it....but nothing is more effective than the real thing(bullet)...so if you are a citizen, then shock on...if your a cop, which it is evident your not, then leave all this alone and call me when you face danger...

  2. Unless he's drugged up your going to take him down! Tazers have killed people but that alone is usually not the cause of death!!

  3. It's not voltage that kills, but the amperage. And the amps provided by a stun gun are generally too low to kill anybody, unless his heart is severely strained due to a drug overdose or the person otherwise has a bad heart condition.

    * Raviet31, amps and volts are completely unrelated. Volts are a measure of electromotive force, and amperage is a measure of current being drawn. Two completely different things.

  4. Like the other poster than posted, it is not the volts, but the amps that kill.  However, volts and amps are linked.  Higher volts = higher amps, pursuant to Ohms Law V = IR.

It takes roughly 50 - 150 mA to cause serious injury, possible death and at 1000 - 4300 mA death is almost certain.

Ohm's law is used to demonstrate the action.

    At 1,000 volts, Current = Volts/Ohms = 1,000/500 = 2 Amps

which can cause cardiac standstill and serious damage to internal organs.

There is likely a resistor that provides sufficient ohms to reduce the amps to a less than lethal range.  However, I never liked stun guns.

I tried a 50,000 volt on myself and it did nothing other than contract my arm for 1-2 seconds and left a little bruise.  the gun had to be held on your target for well over 10 seconds to bring the person down ... lots of time for him to punch in your face.

  5. Aint so much the volts as it is the amps. 110 volts can kill you if you are "grounded just right"
