I have a 2006 Corolla S and want to buy a small personal watercraft(think waverunner). I have no idea if it is possible even tow a PWC trailer with my car. Has anyone ever used a Corolla to tow anything? What do I need to buy for my car in order to do so?

  1. It'll probably tow it as long as you stay out of overdrive, but you should probably look into buying something with a bit more power if this pwc is going to be a long term investment.  That car is gonna be huffing and puffing the whole way with that ski behind it.  I'd put a HD transmission cooler on your vehicle either way.

  2. Previous 2 answers are great.  Think about the purpose of a Corolla, not for towing anything.

Three major mechanical concerns if doing long term because each part is not made strong enough for towing.  Engine, transmission, rear end, and you will, at some point, have major problems with one or all and not covered under warranty because of how used.  Change oil at earliest recommendations.

PWC are great fun, enjoy, but get sufficient transportation.

  3. I towed my 22 foot sailboat home with it and use it for launching. I don't recommend it for this, but you should be OK with you PWC
