um ive dropped many feral hogs with a 22LR up too about fifty yards, bullet placement is essential, but one can also look into cci stinger rds which jump the fps of the 22lr to 1600+ with a slightly smaller grain load which i personally like but it will cost you about 5-6 bucks for a box of 50. anyways if youre a sure shot with a 22 especially if you're carrying a semi auto then go for it at your own risk as always but i do it routinely
