my five year old kid sometimes asks probing questions. She looks for contradictions and then she points out to adults that they are lying.

we are seperated. My wife and my father-in-law are very very shrewd. She stays with them. I think she is picking up all of this there.

I wish my child was as innocent as i am!

  1. why not?

I can remember A LOT from when I was five.

There is not a light switch that just goes on when kids reach 18

  2. Yes a child SHOULD be told the truth when they ask questions.  Whether YOU want her to remain "innocent" (stupid) or not.

  3. Children are naturally inquisitive.  When your child asks you questions be honest but answer the questions with age appropriate answers.  Always be honest and be a positive reinforcement.  Good luck!

  4. Young children are naturally very curious.  It sounds like your daughter is also very bright, my recommendation is not to lie to her.

  5. At age 5 is when children start learning and asking a lot of questions.  It's a natural part of growing up. There environment also effects how they grow and what they ask. Children who's parents are separated and travel between the two often learn in a different way. They become more direct due to what they hear and learn from each parent. It is harder on them than the parents most of the time because they want to know why their parents are not together any more. Thats why she reads through your answers because she is looking for the truth.
