i see what u mean true b but my stepdad has a kawasaki 600 in the garage as he has a new 1000 so i thought rather than have the double expense of getting my licence and buying a bike i could go for the restricted licence and use his bike till i save for my own

  1. Yes but you will need to change the injectors/Carb Jets and exhuast system flow. These changes can then be reversed when you pass your test. personally i would just use a smaller bike.

  2. Yes. I know a guy that got a 700cc restricted to 33bhp. He was happy with the performance as well.

I have heard there may be problems with acceleration (it is a heavier bike and so the power to weight ratio is lower than for a smaller bike that is restricted) and the fuel economy isn't as good as the bike is pulling a heavier weight.

Having said that, there is little point in buying a bike and going through all the hassle when your stepdad has one which you can use. I would ask a mechanic what their opinion is but I think that it makes sense to use the one you have. It may be a little bit more expensive to run than a lighter bike, but if it was me I would go for it.

  3. Any bike can. It can be a plastic clip stopping the carb slides opening completely, a washer between the carb and the inlet restricting the air intake, or even something stopping you turning the throttle completely.  Anyone can fit the restrictor, however - it's only if you get stopped (or crash it) that you'll need to prove the bike is restricted.  You'll still need to have passed a test, though, so if you haven't already you might as well do a Direct Access test and then you'll be able to ride the 600 without any restriction.

  4. yes it must have a restrictor fitted by an approved dealer this is a plastic ring fitted to the carbs that they dont open to far thats all it can be took of easy and if youy know him just pay for it to say ity is fitted  and get a recipe for it and thats all you need
