Can a 80 gb (old version) playstation3 play burned ps2 games?

No, it doesn't. I don't think it even plays normal PS2 games. I think only the 40GB one plays them. I have a 20GB and it doesn't even play normal ones.

nope... why don't you just play them on your modded ps2... it's play and look the same.... it doesn't work

no, it was common sense, but i still tried since i had some burned games, it doesnt read them, nor burned dvds

your ps2 was mod chipped thats why you could play burned games.  burned games are usually missing the authentication coding.  i am not sure if they have developed a mod chip for the ps3 yet.  You are just sol with your fake games.

No Because the PS3 is not Moded,

And Because the 80GB is not a full PS2, so it wont work,

And Plus if you mod your PS3, It could wreck it /Were it out and void the warranty

Just Continue to use your PS2,
