  1. Your SUB has to be able to handle MORE power than your amp

  2. the question should be can a 500watt RMS sub box setup handle 800watts

    is the 800watts RMS or peak/max because peak/max mean absolutely nothing when it comes to car audio just RMS or continuous wattage is important

    with a 300watt difference (i am assuming that they are both RMS wattages) it is a recipe for disaster, plus you have to take things like the impedance (ohms) into consideration

  3. 800 watts rms amp then you better drop the gain a lot or do something. what ohm loads etc you must give more information
