Can a BT home hub be used on a BT line but the provider is Talk Talk?

my brother in law is trying it but no joy, he thinks its something and nothing, he just can't suss it.

The home hub is locked to the BTinternet network, however a quick search on google will give you a link to the firmware that can be updated, this in effect just makes it an unlocked wireless router.

It will of course invalidate any warranty you may have.
