I am in a dispute with a Canadian phone company and they have sent my unpaid balance to a collection agency before we could resolve it - do they have any recourse against my property in the US?

  1. In order for them to put a lien on your property, they will first need to get a civil judgment against you.

The process of getting a judgment and subsequent lien against your property in the US might cost them more than the alleged debt.

  2. Property liens can only be placed if the loan was secured by the property.  Phone bills are unsecured debt.
