Can a (Canadian) doctor (MD) set up a practice in their own home?

Can this be done? Is it possible to have a general family medicine practice in your own home, assuming you have all required diagnostic equipment? Do you need a special license? I know this was how it was done "back in the day"...but can you still do this if you live in a smaller community?

Yes my uncle had a very nice office that was connected to his house... you would of never been able to tell he lived there.
