There is no a stright answer from Canadian authorities.

Why Canadian residents would not be allowed to drive in Canada their cars that they bought in USA, while spending a winter (or part of it) in USA ? Particularly so if they have a residence (property) over there.

  1. I totally understand your frustration with this issue.   Are you a Canadian citizen or a US citizen?  IThat makes a difference.  As a Canadian citizen you can certainly bring the vehicle to Canada and drive it, but you will be faced with a few things to sort out.  We bought a vehicle in the US a few years ago and brought it back to Canada as Canadian citizens, and it was complicated.  You can do it, but you will have to pay import duty on it at the border.  They will give you a number of forms with a list of changes you will have to make in the vehicle in order to register it in Canada - for example, installing daytime running lights.  You have 45 days to make the vehicle comply with Canadian regulations and pass inspection.  I would not try to do it again.  We never did really get it all sorted out properly.  Here are the links that may help you.  Feel free to make contact if you have a question and I will try to anwer it.
