Can a Christan Shelter refuse to hire me because I like the teaching of Buddha as well as Jesus?

  1. I think they can if they think you are not going to teach the way they want, after all is their Shelter. If they believe your teaching will not distort their concept of faith and you will strictly follow their actual teaching maybe they will consider hiring you. It's for sure that some shelters will not tolerate the teaching of budism if they think it will promote that faith instead of Christianism.


  2. I would fully expect some business run by anther religion to not hire me because I didn't subscribe to their beliefs, so you shouldn't have been suprised.  

  3. They can refuse to hire you if there is ANY reason, they think you would not be the best person for the job. I dont think you can FORCE anyone to hire you. It has nothing to do with religion.

  4. they can refuse... but you don't have to profess your Buddha beliefs openly while at the shelter either, so how would they know?

  5. No he cant cause at my church it doesn't mader. But what my paster would call him is a hipicre (this means he realy doesnt belive in Jeuse Crist)

  7. Best to keep your Buddhist faith to yourself.  If in a Christian Shelter you need to abide by their religious choice.  

  8. Texas is an "at will" state. You can refuse to work for anyone, but they can refuse to hire you, too.

  9. Yes, they can refuse. And it wouldn't even necessarily have to do with your religious views. Perhaps they think (probably correctly) that you are too argumentative and confrontational to fit in well with their work environment.  Common sense would dictate you apply elsewhere. Buddha would not approve of looking for trouble.

  11. Actually a Christian shelter can refuse to hire you just because of how your nose is shaped.  It wouldn't be very Christian, but they could do it.

    That is the beauty of America.  Private agencies have the freedom to do as they see fit.

    Anyone can fire you in my state (Tennessee) just because they don't like the way you look.
