Can a Chrysler 400 Big Block Engine fit in a 1987 Camaro

Question

I have a 1987 Z71 Camaro and I got a 1974 Plymouth Roadrunner 400 Big Block Engine. Will the 400 Big Block fit in the Camaro?

I suppose with enough cash anything's possible. That's a big ole motor to put in a Camaro! Personally I think you would have engine width/weight issues. Not to mention other clearance problems.

If the Mopar is in good order,sell it and use the money to put a Chevy motor in....You know it makes sense! It'll be soooo much easier!

The other option is buy a Mopar to fit the engine in!

I have seen ford motors in Chevies, Chevy motors in Fords, Ford motors in MGs, Chevy motors in Datsuns, You name it, someone's done it. What it takes is money. Lots of wasted money.

i believe without modifying the firewall, other sheet metal and the subframe the big block will not fit... and what trans are you going to use... you might need to get your driveshaft shortened... i would have just gotten a pontiac 400 small block would have been easier

The last guy is absolutely right it takes soooo much money to tweek your trannie to the right size and change the engine mounts and everything that its just better to find a big block chevy at say a junk yard  or sum were and get it up and running again.

u have to move monts or make brackets for it motor an trany an add frame contecers to the car or u might twist the body cause it is not a full frame car  if u need any to help e mail me at [e-mail]

If you got a torch or a welder, Sure. But you will have some very funky looking motor mounts.  Me, I would take that fire chicken wanna be and trade it for a Duster, Dart or a Demon. Build the 400 and go spank some chivys.
