If it can't play in an Italian DVD player, would it be able to play on an Italian computer (I imagine it would)? Thanks!

  1. It depends on both the DVD and the player. Both will have a region code on it , which looks like the world, and will have a number in it. The number for America is 1. So a dvd marked 1 can only play on American dvds, or a dvd player that can play all codes. A Dvd marked 9 can play on any player,or player marked with a 9, can play every DVD.

As far as computers go, my personal experience allowed me to watch a foreign coded video so many times, ( 3 in my case) after which the computer would play ONLY that DVD code. Thanks for reminding me though, to get another dvd player that can play all 9 codes! I had one, but my kids broke it.

  2. I am not confident, but I believe that due to "Region" protections you won't be able to read it o an Italian DVD player.

Now I am assuming you are talking about a commercially bought copy protected DVD that you are talking about to begin with.  If you are just referring to a blank DVD-R you bought and have recorded onto yourself then any DVD reader ought to be able to read it.  But sometimes a DVD player won't be able to read it for complex reasons related to the manufacturing process.  This has nothing to do with being an Italian or Chinese DVD player, it is just a generic problem.

But if you play it on any computer it should be able to read it.
