  1. DVD disks are region coded and after initial setup of DVD player you are locked into the content for the region you set it up on.  Some older DVD players didn't have this locking feature, but most new ones do.

  2. No because the voltage in spain is120/220 volts.  UK is of course 240. Its cheaper to buy one in Spain that have your current UK one converted.

  3. Yes, but you'll have to change the mains plug.

The whole of Europe, including Great Britain, was switch to a nominal 230 volts (+/- 10 volts) way back in 1995.

It is surprising how many people are completely unaware of this fact.

Check out the Electricity Supply Regulations, SI 1994, No. 3021 document for more details.

  4. Yep.

  5. All of Europe is DVD region 2. The UK TV standard is PAL, and some of Europe uses the SECAM system and may require a set-top convertor.

Most DVD players can be unlocked to play ny region, and some are even supplied in this condition or instructions how to remove the region lock are freely available.

  6. yes. Also DVDs bought in Spain when you go out there will work on it, as the UK and spain are both in region 2 when it comes to DVD encoding (region 2 includes western and central europe, the middle east, egypt, south africa and japan).
