I have a DVD recorder that plays DVDs but will not record TV programs unless it is hooked into a cable box. My TV has an HD tuner and everything is hooked up correctly. Is there any way to get the DVD recorder to record TV programs without the cable box ?

  1. Unplug your cable box from the tv and see what channels the TV can get on it own. These are the channels that you will be able to record if you don't have the DVD recorder pugged into the cable box. Should only be a few channels like Fox, CBS, NBC,ABC and WGN
