Can a Ditto and a Male Togepi lay eggs?

Question

Normally, in all of the other games, it had never mattered whether the non-transforming pokemon was a male or female as long as there was Ditto. and all of the other times I had received an egg for the day care the pokemon were in there for a few minutes before an egg has appeared and so far nothing from this two. Help?

togepi has to evolve before it can breed b/c it is a baby pokemon. It evolves with happiness, but a male togatic can breed w/ a ditto
