I wish to buy a DVD recorder with a hard drive eg 160 Giga Bytes. Many now come with freeview tuners. I do not know if these will record from the ordinary Sky box I have. I want to record eg BBC 1- BBC 4. I have seen a friends latest Freeview Humax PVR which is very easy to use. Could I use the Humax PVR or similar with my sky box? I'm confused and can't get any help from staff at electrical retailers. Thanks for any suggestions.

  1. You can record the Sky channels. Connect your Sky box to the hard drive recorder via the scart and then connect you recorder the your tv with the other scart. So when you want to record Sky set your recorder channel to L1/AV1 and that's it. I use this setup with my Sony HD/DVD recorder and have no problems.

  2. im guessing you mean can you wire up your freeview box to a skybox and record the progs on sky? if so yeah prob but why bother buying the freeview box might as well get a DVD recorder if you cant get reception

  3. since u dont get the freeview signal where u live then buying a recorder with freeview would seem pointless.why not buy a sky + box that has a built in hard drive then you can watch 1 channel and record another at the same time.i was told by sky that u need to subscribe to use the record facility but a friend of mine uses one and he only has freesat tv
