Question:

Can a German Shepherd mate with a Pom?

I have a 8 year old female German Shepherd and recently got a 1 year old male Pomeranian. We never fixed her since she has always been a house dog and the Pom had never been fixed. We are now fixing the Pom but he came in and she went into heat before we could get him fixed. My question is, is it even possible for a Pomeranian to impregnate a German Shepherd? And if so can anyone send me a pic of what this is going to look like?

  1. That was bad judgement having to un-fixed dogs around.I don't know if it is possible for them to mate, given the size of each, but you should definitely get them fixed pronto!

  2. Yes it is possible you also should get your female spayed as those without being spayed have higher risk of certain types of cancer

  3. Yes, its possible, but its very unhealthy.

Abort any possible puppies. We have enough bastardly mutts in shelters as it is.

  4. welly ou can do your pictures check with google images.  and yest its possible.  If you aren't going to bred your GS why go through all the hassle of heat???? I have 2 golden girls and one will be fixed as we aren't going to breed her anymore.  Heat is a huge yucky so I can't imagine choosing to not fix her.. also it is healthier for her as a preventative to certain cancers if I understand right.

  5. Woah is that even possible XD

  6. Yes it is possible. You might be looking at a dead female and puppies if she is pregnant. 8 years old is far too old for a female to have a litter, no matter how full of life she seems. She is more likely to have problems whelping and may reject her puppies. Get her spayed ASAP, and neuter the male.

  7. I have NO idea what they would look like but it CAN happen. Get the Germen Shepherd fixed too! She can have puppies but it may kill Her. She is WAY to old!

    [EDIT]

Don`t listen to the Idiot right below me.

  8. Don't force it or stop it. It would be fine. Maybe the dog will come out cute!

  9. There is no way to determine what the pups will look like they will go from pom to mix to shepherd like neither.

She's too old and he's too young get a spay/abort done. You have just proved that you can't keep her from getting pregnant, he should have been fixed  before he came into that house or confined to one area while she was in heat.
