Friend has window 98 computer and new internet supplier uses XP and higher.

  1. If there is sufficient RAM - 512MB min   1Gb is better.

    and at least a 40GB hd.


  2. Yes you should be able when you a legal copy of windoes xp.

    When you do install windows xp, do not install it as a fresh install, but as upgrade.

    When you do a fresh install, you will have to format your pc first and your will loose everything. When you do an upgrade, first of all, the programs you use under win98 can still be used under windowx xp.

    When you uninstall win98 and then install windows xp. you might not be able to use some programs.

    I take it, that you are familiar with the installation procedure of windows xp
