The midas is a yellow female, she's probably about 6or 7 inches long. And the guy I got her from is now selling a 40 gallon fish tank with a Jack Dempsey and a Silver Dollar in it, and he's also selling a 125 gallon fish tank. So what I was thinking is that I could buy both tanks and put the Jack, the Silver, and the Midas I already have in the 125 gallon tank and put my 2 fancy goldfish (who are now living in a 20 gallon) in the 40 gallon... AND I could buy a new goldfish. Its perfect! But it will only work if the Jack, the Silver and the Midas can live together.

  1. yes, great choice

  2. Yes, the silver dollar should pose no problems at all and in a 125, the Jack and the Midas should have plenty of space to stake out territories and not have to confront each other.

If they do have a run-in, the Midas would typically come out the winner and the Jack will avoid him in the future.

Cichlids are territorial fish and will protect an area on the bottom of the tank as their breeding ground.  Any fish venturing into the area will be chased away or fought with until a winner is chosen by strength and aggressiveness.
