I'm considering buying a 250 and wanted to know if it could handle highway speeds with 2 people on it for extended periods of time.

  1. I have gotten my ninja 250 up to 115 on the GS Parkway, it happily does 80mph as the motor is producing maximum torque in 6th gear at that rpm.

It is not a fun bike to ride on the highway since it has no windsheild and speeds above 60mph become somewhat uncomfortable if you have to endure them for over 30 minutes.  Its not all that bad i sometimes take it 70 miles out and 70 miles back whenevr i goto AC and im fine with it.

I have done 90mph with a passenger on mine that seemed to be near the top end at the time, but it is more than capable of doing so.

I let my freind ride it with me on the back one time, and i have to say it is not very comfortable for the passenger, but who cares they are mooching your ride anyways right? they get what they pay for.

On  a plus note it REALLY does get 70mpg highway and i think thats pretty awsome.

  2. I wanna buy one to but from what I hear they are too small for 2 people on the freeway. If you need to ride 2 people on the freeway get a 500cc or mayby even a 600cc depending on how big the person(s) is.

  3. It's not a dedicated 2up highway bike. It would depend on the size/weight of the people. For example my 1998 model has a weight limit of 150kg. I am 140kg. It carries me fine on the freeway. I have had it up to 150km/h so far.

However it does bottom out sometimes.

If your combined weight is less than 150kg it will carry you both fine.

If you want to do this everyday i would suggest a bigger bike.

  4. The Ninja 250 will handle two up at highway speeds. The only consideration you should give is that it won't be comfortable for extended periods of time. You will need to stop every hour or so to get some feeling back into your legs, back, bum etc,

  5. It is not a good two up bike for extended periods  of time,

Just one of the prices you pay to look like a racer.
