Can a Kenmore 5,000 BTU air conditioner fit in any window?

Sorry for lack of proper terms.. but if the AC unit was a bit too small for the window, does it have those "side things" that stretch out to fit in the window? Or do I have to deal with a gap?...

Most units come with 'side things' and most places

that sell AC units can sell you extra 'side things' to fit

your unit.

If you're stuck and can't get the plastic units to fit,

plastic wrap around cardboard isn't pretty, but does

the job.
