  1. Judgments collect interest. The annual  interest rate on judgment in New York is 9%.

  2. If you are a judgment debtor, the prevailing party can have a garnishment placed on your bank account.  Most judgments have post-judgment interest included.

Read the judgment.  Consult with your attorney.

  3. Pay the attorney with a check of $37.00, then send him a bill for $1.00. tell him if he does not pay you within 24hrs you will add a late fee of $100.00 to the debt. Then, after the 24 hrs. you will add another late fee of $150.00 and so on until the debt is pain in full. put all this in writing and attach it to the check. With this statement," by signing this check and depositing it you are hereby in agreement with the terms as stated. you have 24hrs. to void this agreement. it may be voided only in writing and must state the reason you want to void this agreement that you had previously agreed. The letter must be sent in certified letter form"

Keep adding up the bills until you reach $3,000. Send a letter to the attorney, explain that the debt if valid, via an agreement between him and you via the implied contract and deposit of the check into his account. Advise him that you will report this debt to a collection company. Give the debt to a collection recovery company for $1.00 they will take it from there. Or take them to small claims court for the debt.
