  1. Yes they can. Its not very likely, but if your asking if it is "possible" it is.

Each team in a division plays each other two times. If each team loses and beats each team in their division, and win the reast of their games, they will be 13-3. (3 losses for each loss in their division)

They could lose up to any 5 more games, to have at least a 8-8 record.

but you have to be OVER .500 to have a winning record

  2. Yes, and 8-8 is .500 not winning..

  3. AFC South & NFC East last year!!!

  4. Yes, but only three can make the playoffs.

  5. It's tough but the answer is yes. Each team in a division plays 6 games within their division and 10 out of division games. If the division is tough and the teams all basically split their head to head matchups they would be 3-3, 4-2, or 2-4 coming out of division play. With 10 games left on the schedule if the division is strong and plays weaker divisions they could all dominate their 8 common opponents. Their 2 games that are determined using last year's records are the wild cards. If all the teams are improved in a division it is possible that they win those too. Theoretically a division of 4 teams could have records of:

    16-0 (win all games)

14-2 (loose twice to 16-0 team)

12-4 (loose 2 times each to 16-0 team and 14-2 team)

10-6 (loose 6 games total 2 to each in the division)

With only 2 wild cards only 3 teams from the same division could make the playoffs.

  7. If you're taking 8-8 as winning (which it isn't) then the NFC East did that last season. Cowboys were 13-3, Giants went 10-6, Redskins went 9-7, and the Eagles went 8-8.

It's already been said that .500 isn't a winning season, but it is possible, just unlikely, that all the teams in a division finish above .500 at the end of the season.

    Cheers!
