Question:

Can a PS3 with Blu_Ray be connected to a Sony DAV FX900W home theater system?

My Sony system is HD DVD compatible but unable to play the Blu-Ray format.Sony makes both so it seems the those who bought Sony's HD DVD systems got hosed !!

  1. While I'm no big fan of Sony, I wonder why you say the DAV FX900W  is HD DVD compatible and not Blu-ray?

    The internal DVD player won't play either HD disk format (no surprise), but the unit will accept composite or component input (pass through only / no interconversion), so you should be able to get the video to be processed as either (although in reality it would be better to go direct via HDMI to the HD display). The DAV FX900W only has digital coax or optical inputs (no HDMI) so would have issues with advanced audio formats, but it's the same for HD DVD and Blu-ray. So, sorry, but I don't see how this system is better for HD DVD .... and you can't fault Sony because it doesn't directly support HD disk formats ... it wasn't designed or sold to do so (any more than numerous other similar products form other manufacturuers).

    What am I missing?
