Can a Princess Become Queen if she never marries a Prince?

If a Princess doesn't get married with a Prince can they become Queen. Remember that movie Princess Diaries 2 Royal Engagement Mia didn't want to get married at all with a Prince?

A princess can become queen if she is the heir to the throne and the king/queen she is heir to dies.  Most countries that still have royalty have an inheritance system where a son will inherit in preference to a daughter, so if the princess has a brother, even a younger one, he would normally be king.

I am a bit uncertain about the state of the succesion in Genovia, because Mia is illegitimate, which would normally exclude her from the succesion in most countries. Geonovia seems to be a bit unusual in that respect.  But marrying a commoner would not normally exclude her from the succesion, though if she was marrying someone whom the current ruler considered totally unacceptable she might be obliged to abdicate.  She may end up marrying the man of her choice, but you can bet that Grandmere will put up a fight.

No.The movie you refer to is FICTION so you can't use it as guidelines to  what really happens with royalty. Queen Elizabeth I was never married,but she was heir to the throne. The present Queen of England was a princess first.She also was heir to the throne and didn't need to marry to take on her job. She was the elder daughter and was heir presumptive,the only requirement to getting the job was that she'd follow the constitutional rules and guidelines for the monarchy.

Royals usually do marry and have children so that the bloodlines are continued,but it isn't a necessary job requirement.

The only requirement for a Princess who is the eldest daughter of a King or Queen to succeed to the throne is that she does not have any brothers (this is in the case of countries like the UK which operate the system of "male primogeniture" - boys inherit first even if they're younger than their sisters). Queen Victoria did not marry until several years after she became queen.

In Sweden, King Carl XVI Gustaf's first child was Princess Victoria, born in 1977. At that time she was the heiress presumptive. In 1979 her brother Prince Carl Philip was born and he displaced her to become the heir apparent. However there was already a constitutional amendment in the works, so that the oldest child becomes monarch regardless of s*x, so from 1 January 1980 Princess Victoria became heir apparent, and she's still the Crown Princess today.

Realistically, if the monarch does not have any male heir to succeed him, the crown will go to his eldest daughter, who is also known as the "Heiress Presumptive." There are currently three European Queen Regents living today who were previously daughters of a monarch with the title of "Princess" and succeeded the throne because there was no "male heir" to inherit the crown:

When a Queen marries, her husband would become her "Prince Consort" (not King), and will be titled and styled as "His Royal Highness Prince X."

Depending on the country, yes.  Some countries do not allow women to inherit the throne, but in countries where they can, such as England, they can become Queen by inheritance.  Elizabeth II was Princess Elizabeth before the death of her father.  She was elevated to Queen at his death and had nothing to do with whether or not she was married.  (Elizabeth I never married, yet she also was elevated from princess to queen through inheritance.)
