Can a Rogue wave flip over a huge cruise ship.?

  1. Not very easily.  It would have to be a huge wave in order to flip it.  A 70 ft. rogue wave hit the Norwegian Dawn about a year ago, but all it did was tilt the ship a little bit, injured a few people, and caused some damage to the open decks.


  2. Not very likely. Even in very stormy seas most any of the ships people think of a cruise liners will sway only slightly. A rogue wave may tilt a ship slightly (not flip) if hit just right, but that is so rare it is hardly worth a passing thought.

    I can't prove it scientifically, but I've never heard of the scenario actually happening before ...
