Have seen Chris Chameleon twice in concert and admire his skill as an entertainer in multiple languages and styles. I know he is on tour in the Netherlands now. What are the chances for a SA to break out of SA and hit a world market?

  1. Dont forget Seether!

There are quite a few bands that have broken out over seas, names like Just Jinjer, Watershed (big in Germany), Parlotones, Tree 63, Cassette, Flash Republic.

But on the overall, it will take SA artists a lot of work to break out overseas.

Try looking for Chris's band, BOO!,  before he went solo, you might enjoy it.

  2. Tree 63 have done well, and Charlize Theron

  3. I think it depends on the artist and kind of performance or music he/she is capable of  -  people like Gê Korsten, Manual Escorcio and Mimi Coertze was very succesfull, so was Drakensberg Boys Choir and other SA choirs, the production of the Lion King, Charlize Theron, also a much talked about film, i don't recall the name  and a quite few of out writers work was also translated
