Can a SSG confine a SGT to the barracks?

A SSG gave a SGT a written counsel on DA Fm 4856 because he failed to meet curfew. Can the SSG confine the SGT to the barracks?

  1. If it is standing order or it has been appoved by the Top or CO/XO.

Only Commissioned officers exercising GCM or SPCM convening authority can order a Soldier into confinement.  Only a Commissioned officer exercising a company command or higher can order restriction.  Non commissioned officer can only recommend punishment but cannot execute the punishment.  That being said breaking curfew is a serious offense I assume you are in Korea.  He could be given a FG for a missing curfew as it is a policy put in place to protect the Soldier.  It may not seem like it but the SSG is doing what is best for the SGT by not bringing this to the CO he probably saved his rank.  Of course if he still has a problem he can always go to TDS
