Can a South African work in the South of Ireland for a year? What are the laws concerning this?

Hi, I am matriculating this year and want to go and au-pair in the South of Ireland for a year, next year. I am really struggling to find people who can tell me what the countries laws are concerning this. Whether I am allowed to go and work there or not. If you have any advice or answers please help, or give me contact numbers of what embassy/company/organisation/etc. I should contact concerning this!

  1. Contact the Irish Embassy of Consulate in South Africa and ask THEM!!! Get out your local phone book, or phone directory inquiries in your country!

    south Africans can work here but you will need a visa and work permit to do so i don't have a phone numbers of our embassies but there do have web sites you can with there phone numbers and e-mail addresses so you can contact them if you log into the web site of the nearest Irish embassy to you you should get all the details your looking for

  3. In general, non-EEA nationals must have a permit to work in Ireland.

    Nanny is one of the occupations not eligible for work permits.
