I am a tad confused lol. Can a TB cross race on the track? my gelding has a tattoo under his lip. he's supposed to be a TB/QH. and looks and acts like a TB. the only thing QH bout him is his thick mane and tail. anyway, you think the seller lied to me? he really has the attitude of a race horse. and the seller kept repeating me was never raced. but idk. apparently his papers were "lost" ...anyway im just curious it doesnt really matter because i've had him for a couple years and wouldnt sell him for the world. i was suspicious when i first bought him but didn't really mind.

  1. Thoroughbreds have a lip tattoo. The first digit will be a letter A-Z, this defines the year in which he was foaled. Then there is a set of numbers which are his registration numbers. Contact the Jockey Club for more info.

  2. Normally only TB's have lip tattoo. Im going to go with she lied to you on his bloodlines.

Oh and the Thick mane and Tail that is a TB trait all the way.

Only pure-breds race so if he has a racing tattoo(lip) then he has to be a purebred.

You know fake tails they use for QH, those tails come from TB that have been slaughtered in China, so snotty performance kids can have a pony with a tail.

  3. Go to this website: http://www.equineline.com/

If your horse has raced, he should be registered here. I know you can swarch the database by horse name, but I am not sure about the tattoo under the lip.

  4. I think the chances are pretty good that he is a Racing Quarter Horse.  Most Racing Quarters are usually 3/4ths Thoroughbred as it is.

  5. He could have raced as a quarter horse. Appendixs can be registered in the AQHA (dont remember how but they can).

If he is a good horse though, just pray that he wasnt raced. It tears them up and they rarely stay sound their entire lives.

  6. A TBx cannot race my aunt worked at the race track for over 16 years and I asked her and she said they cannot. The only other option is that the seller lied to you.

    Hope I Helped : )
