  1. Technically any EU national can work anywhere in the EU, but there is bureaucracy to be got through, you do need to get a residency permit and that, and the best thing to do is to phone the Portuguese Embassy or Consulate in the UK and ask them what you need to do, and what documents you need to provide in order to be able to do this.

I lived and worked in the Netherlands for 6 years, and I'm Irish.

  2. In theory, as an EU citizen, you simply need to turn up and find a job.  In practice you need to get the equivalent of a National Insurance number and establish yourself as a resident.

  3. Yes.  It's one of the main benefits of being in the Euro.  You will have to get a work permit though when you are there, and obviously, you will pay taxes to the Portugese state.

I work and live abroad (France) and I have no problems.

  4. everything is said so good luck and have fun

  5. Yes, is your name really Melvin

  6. Yes.

with an exception: as a british citizen, you can't be a cooker in Portugal.

We are used to delicious and good food.

    lol

    just kidding.

still, stay away from portuguese restaurants, please...

  7. Sure can, you don't need any red tape either, just go to the town hall and get a fiscal number,(like national insurance number) and you are done, many bars only employ English people, the pay is low, but you get a shared apartment, all your food, and as much party, as you can handle.
