  1. dont know sorry

  2. An R.N or LPN licensed in the U.S. could definetly work in the U.S. Virgin Islands.  I am sure you would have to get a license there just like if you moved to another state.  See 1st site below for info on Bahamas, 2nd site for U.K. info ( for the BVI).  You could also contact the ANA ( through your state organization) as they may have info for other countries.  And, wherever you move, your prospective employer could give you the contact info to get licensure there.

  3. The bahamas would be FAR more trouble than the USVI or Puerto Rico.

Work permits ( which can be quite expensive) are hard to come by, and you would not be allowed to work just on the basis that your husband is there.

You would have to get a job before you come, and get a permit in place before you arrive. (you cannot apply while living in the bahamas.)

It might be easier for YOU to get a permit than your husband.. since they look for nurses in the out islands.  But then it would be difficult for your husband to get work in the outislands (or a permit, since jobs are impossible to come by.)

Once your work permit is over (they are for a specific period of time) you are repatriated back to the states.  You would need a significant investment $500,000 for nassau/gbi.  to stay in the bahamas.

Check into the US territories.. it would be quite a big easier.

  4. Yes you can. There are a few agencies that place nurses in St. Thomas. Through an agency you most likely will make more than applying directly at a hospital. Not sure how good those agencies are but look around on various travel nursing sites for recs on good agencies and other info.

  5. USVI yes, it's part of the US. For anyplace else you will have to get a work permit.

The Bahamas are not in the Caribbean.
