I married a Malian man. Can I apply for this nationality (including voting rights) and keep my own?

  1. A US citizen can be a citizen of another country if there is a treaty allowing dual citizenship.

  2. I have a friend from Germany that has dual citizen-ships. (US and Germany) He was born in Germany, but to parents from the USA. (military family) Don't know how it is done.

Maybe contact your country and see? His nationality may not let you. Why haven't you asked him how? He should be able to tell you.

  3. When I got my American citizenship I had to denounce my German citizenship. (I agree). But I think some countries can keep both sides. Not fair! Where are their loyalties in a possible conflict?

  4. The US allows dual nationality.  As long as the other country doesn't prohibit it, it is fine.

  5. You may have dual citizenship. Circumstances apply though. Usually has to do with ancestry, not sure how it works through marriage. Andof course it depends on the country.
