Can a USB PC joystick be used on a xbox 360?

The 360 has USB inputs on the front and was hoping I could plug one into it and use it to play Ace Combat and Over G.......anyone ever do it?

Some joystick works but only the new one that made for vista.

My guess is it depends on the manufacturer but i don't think it will work.
