  1. no, it is a tuner for its own recordings, it does not amplify the bypass antenna connection.


  2. The first answer is correct, that it is not a booster and is it's own tuner, however, the tuner on your VCR *may* be more sensitive than the one in your TV, so it might perform better.

    Just try it and see -- you may want to use it as your new TV tuner (at least until 2009 when it all goes digital).
