Question:

Can a Window's Media File be linked AND opened in a Yahoo! 360 Blog?

I have a short news clip, saved in the form of a Window's Media File that I would really like to use for a blog posting. The same goes for a few YouTube videos I'd like to post....but, It seems to me you can only upload still pictures saved in a jpeg file, either .jpg or .jpeg. image.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to load a short video into a blog on Yahoo! 360?... And if so, please tell me what I have to do to make that happen?

  1. Yes, but you need to upload to or find the video at a video-hosting site first.

STEP #1: Upload the video (if it's yours)

You'd have to check the service's help section to find out what types of video are accepted. You may need to use video-converting software to change the file to an acceptable format. Although, some of these free services do the converting for you.

Popular, free services are YouTube: http://help.youtube.com/support/youtube/ and Google Video: http://video.google.com/support/?hl=en .

Also, check out the 360 post regarding how to embed a video into your blog and how to upload your own video to Yahoo! Video:

http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-1qCkw2Eha... and the actual Yahoo! Video video post on uploading a video to Yahoo! Video at http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=12... .

See the 360 team post here (http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-1qCkw2Eha... ) for instructions on using Jumpcut to upload home videos.

STEP #2: Add the video to your 360 blog

Embed so that people can play the video right in your blog entry:

    - Find the embed code for the video that you want to add. See http://www.youtube.com/sharing , for example of where an embed code can be found or what it looks like. You can choose a video from Yahoo! Video, YouTube, or Google Video (and even more services than that).

    - Click on "My Blog" and create a new entry.

    - Type some text in the actual entry space as well, as it might not save.

    - Click the box next to "View HTML source" in the upper right of the entry space before adding code.

    - Copy the embed code and paste it into the space.

    - Click the box next to "View HTML source" to get back to regular view if necessary. It may not show up until the entry is Previewed or Saved.

    - Click "Save" button and see if it appears.

See http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/blo... for the help page regarding embedding video into your blog.

You can also add a direct link to the video's web page to your Blast, Blogroll, or a blog entry (by typing the name of the link, selecting the name, then using the "Add Link" button on the entry's toolbar to add the web address). Of course, this will lead people away from your 360 space in order to view the video.
