  1. it won't pass a mot test without a cat, so even if it does run it will only be useful as a ornament

  2. Yer it can, but make sure its on when getting the car registered,

    Positives:

    Better airflow= More performance,

    Exhaust sound better

    Its free

    Negatives:

    Car smells like ****

Louder (some people think its a negative)

    Worse emmisions

  3. yes it will,no probs....it will be slightly faster..but if its after a 'j' reg then it nededs refitting for its mot.

  4. Yes you can but you will ned to put one on for the MOT test.

  5. just make sure you get a pipe to connect the end of your exhaust to the silencer (muffler in US), otherwise your car will sound stupid.

as already mentioned you will need to re-attach it for an MOT or emissions test

theoretically you will get better performance, as  your car will weigh less and their will be less resistance on the exhaust, so your engine will "breathe" better.

you may need to get your fuel injection system modified to maximize any performance gain.

if your going to bother taking your cat out, you might as well get a streight through silencer. will sound stupid but you will get much more engine power.

downside of doing all this, is that you are probably going to make your car illegal (depending where you live), and the environmental impact won't be all that good either.
