My daughter is 5 months old. When I changed her diaper and wiped her there was blood on the wipe. I wiped again and I'm positive it's from her v****a. It's not a lot at all but I've never sen this before. I have 2 boys so this was not an issue. Any thoughts? Something to be concerned about?

  1. Call the doc just to make sure. My pediatrician told me that it was okay for the baby to be having vaginal discharge because its still coming out from all the time she spent inside me... this is for a newborn though. I've never heard of this but it seems like otherpeople have.. I would call the doctor just to play it safe..

  2. Don't worry about it. It could be a tad bit of diaper rash towards the inside that bled a tiny bit. It happens to my daughter every once in a while. The doctor said it was fine. Try using a bit of cornstarch that should heal it up.

  3. I read in "What to expect, the first year" that this can happen because the baby's hormones are still regulating after birth and becuase they are no longer recieving any hormones from the mother. It said you may see a bloody discharge from a baby girl's v****a, but it wouldn't hurt to give the pediatrician a call and see what they say!

  4. when i withdrew from the hospital they gave me booklet of what to expect, it said lil girls sometimes bleed, or lactate (i know wierd huh) but i remember it saying for like the first week. You should just give your doctor a call and see what thats about, but dont worry just have faith. She will be Fine.

  5. Most dramatically, at 2 or 3 days of age, your daughter may have a little bit of bleeding from her v****a. This is perfectly normal and caused by the withdrawal of the hormones she was exposed to in the womb. It will be her first and last menstrual period for another decade or so.

-While you said your daughter is 5 months old, it can happen later in life if you are breast feeding.

  6. My Daughter had what they call a pseudo period when she was born, in fact she had for the first 10 days of her life and I can honestly say that it was just a mini version of a period that I would get - blood clots too. At birth and immediately proceeding birth it is quite normal for a little girl to bleed in this way as she is slowly releasing the hormones that she picked up from you whilst she was inside you - my Daughter also had breast-buds so I guess she was just one big hormonal mess at birth. We did a lot of research into this at the time as we had never heard of it and I am 99.9% certain that apart from those first two weeks of their life, girls are not supposed to get any vaginal bleeding until they reach puberty. So I would say that if you are certain that the blood came from her v****a and not from her bottom, I would get an appointment to see her Doctor as soon as possible.

  7. Call a doctor and find out, Its something you should get checked out. But no she wouldn't be having a period.

  8. hmmm... I'd ask a doctor about that. Dont let that one slide.

  9. i dont think so but just in case go to a doctor

  10. nooo

  11. sound unusual - neither of my daughters had this.

keep an eye on it.  if it persists for more than 24 hours, or if it reoccurs with any regularity, take her to see a pediatrician.

    good luck!
